What Is “Super WiFi”?
The Federal Communications Commission opened the possibility of super wi-fi on Thursday, approving the use of the “white space” between TV channels for a variety of communications services.
San Antonio, TX, September 25, 2010 –(PRLOG.com)–Super WiFi is the “white space” between TV channels that has been unused wireless frequency that would allow a traditional WiFi network to be extended for miles versus feet due to the channel frequency being much lower, 50 MHz to 700 MHz versus traditional WiFi which operates on 2.4 Ghz & 5.0 GHz.

FCC commissioners said the move would speed Internet services to both rural and urban homes while pushing a variety of new services. Hospitals and cities have tested the new band to create whole facility networks, or in one case to offer video of traffic at city intersections.
“Today we open a new platform for global innovation,” said FCC chairman Julius Genachowski. He predicted that with the technology U.S. companies will push a number of new products.
The great news about Super WiFi is currently WiFi can only be measured in feet versus Super WiFi that can travel up to several miles.
The possibilities are unlimited with Super WiFi. Traditionally lower broadcasting frequencies have been licensed spectrum saved exclusively for major wireless telecommunications providers and government / public safety networks.
